Event Details

This event will focus on the growing partnerships being developed between Ireland and Scotland, and will provide professionals - from across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland - with the opportunity to make new connections and explore opportunities to develop new business relationships and collaborations on both sides of the Irish Sea.

This event will involve some group breakout networking sessions and guest speeches from:

  • Jane McCulloch, Consul General of Ireland in Scotland
  • Mary Rose Burke, CEO of Dublin Chamber
  • David Greenlees, Chair of Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange
  • Liz McAreavey, CEO of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce

 In preparations for St Patrick's Day celebrations, we aim for this event to be an upbeat and uplifting occasion to celebrate the growing friendship between Ireland and Scotland.

Jane McCulloch, Consul General of Ireland to Scotland

Jane is the seventh Consul General of Ireland to Scotland. Prior to taking up duty at the Consulate General, Jane was Head of Integrity in the Passport Service, in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in July 2019. She has previously served in the Humanitarian Unit of Irish Aid, with a focus on the Middle East, and in Protocol Division, working on state and official visits to and from Ireland. Jane has also served abroad in Ireland's Embassies in Denmark and Poland. Jane is from County Meath, and first lived in Scotland as a student at the University of St Andrews.

Mary Rose Burke, Dublin Chamber

Mary Rose is the Chief Executive Officer of Dublin Chamber. Dublin Chamber speaks on behalf of business in the Greater Dublin Region, promoting a competitive and internationalised business environment and providing extensive networks for business development. The Chamber is a leader in the development of a strong vision for a successful and sustainable Dublin Region. Previous to joining the Dublin Chamber, Mary Rose held the position of Director of Corporate, Strategic and International Affairs for Ibec since 2013, having moved from the position of Director of Pharmacy at Boots Ireland, which she held for eight years. Prior to joining , Mary Rose worked at the HSE, and previously established and managed her own business. She has also been a council member of Chambers Ireland and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Mary Rose is a pharmacist and Council member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and is a member of the Board of Directors for Bord na Mona.

David Greenlees, Causeway

David is Chairperson & Director of Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange and alongside his fellow Board members, helped create a strong business platform for companies and professionals seeking to collaborate and connect between Ireland and Scotland. David’s background is in sales leadership, and has been growing technology businesses in Scotland and across UK & Ireland for over 20 years, mainly within the software and consultancy space, helping clients become more efficient & agile in operation, and profitable in routes to market. David is the UK & Ireland Director for Priority Software, a $50million global ERP Software business with over 75,000 customers. David has a strong sales and marketing focus, and contributes specifically towards the growth of Causeway commercially, as well as its communications and marketing strategies.

Liz McAreavey, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce

Liz was appointed CEO of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce in 2016 following six years in various roles at the Chamber. Liz sits on the Edinburgh City Vision Steering Group, the Edinburgh Business Forum, The Festivals Forum and many other civic groups in the city. She is also a member of the Business Creation and Growth Mission of the Enterprise and Skills Strategy Board and a member of the Land Use Taskforce. Prior to joining the Chamber, Liz enjoyed an entrepreneurial career spanning 16 years, founding Le Bistro Hospitality, Scotland’s largest independent hospitality company, which she led to a successful exit in 2001. In 2005, Liz joined Deloitte to lead their Brand and Business Development for Scotland. In 2007 she became a Director at Ernst & Young, heading up their Market Leadership Strategy as Business Development Leader UK&I. Liz joined Edinburgh Chamber in 2010, becoming Group Commercial Director in 2012 and has project managed the ‘Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference’ in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Government. In 2011, she was seconded to Essential Edinburgh as interim Chief Executive. She was awarded Outstanding Scottish Businesswoman of the Year 1999 and has had the following Board Appointments (1994 – 2018): Trustee of Ross Development Trust, Governor, Fettes College, Edinburgh Mid and East Lothian DYW.
