In March, we will be joined by Liam Kavanagh, Managing Director of The Irish Times. Liam will give us an overview of his career & leadership style. He will also discuss the affect that sustainability has had on print media and advent of digital within the industry.

Liam Kavanagh, Managing Director, The Irish Times:

 

Liam Kavanagh is Managing Director of The Irish Times Group, Ireland’s leading quality news media publisher comprising two national titles, The Irish Times and Irish Examiner, seven regional newspapers, two radio stations, MyHome.ie and a number of other digital assets, and the largest contract printer in Ireland.Liam joined The Irish Times in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed to the Board in 2001 as Finance Director and Company Secretary. He served as Deputy Managing Director in 2006 before his appointment as Managing Director in 2010.Prior to joining The Irish Times, Liam worked with KPMG and the Jefferson Smurfit Group as Finance Director for Smurfit Ireland.Liam is a member of the management committee of NewsBrands Ireland (the Irish news media industry association).  He is the Irish representative on the board of the World Association of Newspapers and is a former member of the European Board of INMA (The International News Media Association).Liam was President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce in 2013. He also served on its Executive Committee and Council. He served as Chairman of the Ireland Hong Kong Business Forum (IHKBF) from February 2014 to January 2018. He currently serves as an external member of the Finance Committee of Trinity College Dublin.
