Hackathon to Challenge Global Injustices and End Sexism Launched on International Women’s Day

In an empowering move to commemorate International Women’s Day, Spring ACT (a Zendesk Tech for Good partner) in collaboration with Spring Tech,  UX&Why and other partners announced the women-led hackathon, “Hacking Global Injustices: confidence. sexism.” This innovative event took place from the 8th to the 10th of March.

The hackathon aims to bring together the brightest minds in technology, activism, and academia to forge solutions that tackle gender-based injustices and drive forward the agenda for equality. In 48 hours, over 50 predominantly women participants engaged in a dynamic environment to develop an impact app that aims to empower people to tackle the imposter syndrome as well as tackle sexism with witty comebacks.

The Hackathon is a call to action for developers, innovators, and advocates for gender equality to contribute their skills and perspectives towards creating meaningful change. The hackathon not only serves as a platform for technological innovation but also as a beacon of hope and solidarity in the fight against global injustices faced by women.

“We are at a pivotal moment where technology intersects with activism. This hackathon and this impact app embodies our commitment to leveraging this powerful synergy to address and end global injustices in all its forms,” said Rhiana Spring, Executive Director and Founder of Spring ACT and Spring Tech.

The event was a fertile ground for networking, learning, and inspiration, featuring workshops, keynote speeches from leaders in the tech and gender equality spaces, and mentoring sessions with experts.
