Government Agrees Measures to Support SMEs

This month, DETE announced a package of measures aimed at reducing costs and providing support for SMEs. The initiatives include, introducing a second ICOB payment for businesses in the retail and hospitality sectors and doubling the Innovation Grant Scheme to €10,000.

Additionally, the maximum amount available under the Energy Efficiency Grant Scheme will be increased to €10,000 and the business contribution rate will be reduced from 50% to 25%. The Trading Online Voucher has also now been extended to all sectors with up to 50 employees, and the grant amount doubled to €5,000.

Further provisions include the widening of eligibility for the Digital for Business Consultancy Scheme, extending it to all sectors with up to 50 employees, and the implementation of an enhanced ‘SME test’ by DETE in conjunction with the Department of the Taoiseach.
