This month, Minister McGrath and Minister Donohue presented Budget 2024 to the Dáil. Dublin Chamber acknowledged the Budget as a step in the right direction, but more work is needed. A budget targeted towards the individual rather than businesses, there were many aspects of the budget that inadequately rewarded enterprise or negated certain aspects entirely. The reaction supports aids to achieving climate goals, and to a lesser degree the angel investor tax cut, however, more comprehensive reframing of tax is needed for Irish enterprise.

A positive that can be drawn from Budget 2024, is the efforts made to reduce the cost of childcare. A recurring feature of Dublin Chamber’s policy, reducing the cost of childcare is an overarching issue that will yield a host of positive benefits on our economy, culture and daily lives.
